Covenant Festival continues to raise the bar for underground events in Vancouver (and is evidently soon to extend its cadaverous clutches to Montreal as well), and the second night of Covenant II certainly marked its most notorious moments yet.
Unfortunately, due to local transit schedules and Taake’s extremely delayed start time we were unable to cover their set (please start by midnight next time, gentlemen!) And, as we consistently endeavour to respect the three-song-no-flash photography rule, Arizmenda’s bloodletting is also not pictured.
Nevertheless, from Dire Omen’s sepulchral opening set onward, each performance we witnessed offered a set of impassioned missives from the abyss, with highlights including the aforementioned Arizmenda as well as Funeral Throne, which was easily the most photogenic act of the evening.
Night three coverage coming soon…
